Spring Shootout
This year’s Spring Sniper Shootout celebrated its 20th anniversary of hosting another extremely competitive event that brought out the best snipers from law enforcement agencies throughout the State of Florida. It was very apparent that these individuals have trained hard during the past year as their skill set levels have greatly improved and the accuracy they were able to maintain while running the shootout’s demanding courses of fire definitely stood out. FSA also had the privilege of bringing Sergeant Steve Fisher from the Greeley (CO) Police Department to conduct a Debrief on an incident his SWAT team was involved in last summer (June 2023) involving an armed, barricaded subject. Critical knowledge on the different techniques used for this situation was presented and we thank Sergeant Fisher for taking time out of his busy schedule to attend our event. CONGRATULATIONS to Jovani Santos and Nick Cockriel of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (Team 1) for taking the team win in the 2024 Spring Sniper Shootout! Second place team winners were Daniel Levanti and Ben Smith of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. CONGRATULATIONS to Bryan Gubba of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, who took the honor of winning First Place in the Individual Top Sniper Award. Nick Cockriel of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (Team 1) took second place in the individual sniper event. I would like to thank our amazing sponsors for their donations to our event. As in years past, the following agencies provided manpower to support the Spring Sniper Shootout by helping put the course events together and judging the events: Orlando Police Department, Lakeland Police Department, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
